Free apps for students that may save your life some day!

Hello everyone! This week, there is another batch of the free apps for students. These may actually “save your life” one day or just save you some time and money 😊

Apple’s iTunes University

Apple’s iTunes University (iTunes U for short) has a lot of material from many top universities and colleges. Your own school’s course materials might even be on iTunes U, but if not, you might find similar content from the equivalent courses at the other schools. The shame is that app is only available for iOS but you can find text, audio or video, depending on the content provided by the course content creator.

All Recipes

All Recipes app is great for the student who leaves Sunday night cooking until after the shops have shut. Choose what type of dish you want, search via the ingredients you have in your cupboards and the time you're prepared to stand over a stove, and it will filter out results and recipes for you. Top feature is that you can easily put in a filter for dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, low fat or no dairy.

My Fitness Pal

That late-night snacking can easily add up to your weight number. This app is great for recording what you're eating. It has an extensive database of food, including everything from supermarket brands to restaurants, so it's easy to keep on top of your calories. There's also an option to add how much exercise you're doing – even if it's just ten minutes of walking. Top feature is actually scanning the barcode of shop-bought food and instantly inputting the content.

If you aren't already an active Quizlet user, this app will turn you into a digital flashcards devotee. Just like the Quizlet website, the app allows you to search through thousands of sets of flashcards other users have made and to create sets of your own. With each set, you can play games such as Scatter and Gravity as well as test your memory with multiple-choice sample tests generated by the app. And the best thing that it’s totally free!

Circle of Six

A number of apps for students have been developed promoting personal safety, for use both on- and off-campus. These student apps help to keep users safe if out alone at night. The Circle of Six app works on both Android and iOS, and was designed for university students to keep connected with close friends. The app is particularly useful for locating lost friends on nights out and also allows users to send their circle of six friends an instant call for help at the touch of a button. The GPS tracker will mark your location on your friends’ devices, ensuring you’ll always be able to find one another if necessary.

There is no excuse for not helping students to find whatever they need. Even if it is using the best technology available when it comes to your studies, saving time or money! Pick your favourite one and we guarantee you, that your everyday life will get so much easier!
